This was such a fun idea! It wasn't mine originally.
I saw it at:

I made 3 for my 3 cousins who are avid hunters. I was very pleased at how they turned out. I hope you enjoy! :)

To start with, I purchased an 8x10 in. cheapo canvas (available at craft stores for a couple bucks)
Then I searched silhouette deer head pictures on the internet and printed off some of my favorite ones in a low quality (to save ink) and cut them out.

Next, choose a backround color in acrylic paint. I used a blue for the sky by simply mixing dark blue, light blue and white.
On another one (shown at the bottom), I used a tan color to make it look like wood behind the silhouette.

Trace right onto the dried paint on the canvas. It doesn't take the acrylic paint very long to dry, so that makes it easier.

Pencil traced.

Outline along the pencil lines with a thin brush and black paint. Fill in as you go if you'd like.

Use a second coat of paint to make the black as dark as possible.
I also put black paint for the ground and painted on blades of grass with the black paint.

There are so many options with this concept. different back rounds, different scenes. different sizes.
Other ideas I have for painted silhouettes are a ballet dancer, horses, trees, birds, a couple dancing, etc..
Thank you for reading this! I hope it is helpful! :) -LisaNicole
